Abstract Data

Treece Kansas. The P. and C. Mining Company, Joe Pruitt of Miami, and Claude Shewmake of Wilburton Kansas, two practical miners and former ground foremen in other diggings, has leased the west shaft of the Cherokee Mine near Treece. Preliminary work is being carried on in the ground, where the dirt is said to be rich in minerals. The output of the shaft is to be milled at the Woodchuck Mill near Cardin Oklahoma, according to Mr. Shewmake. On account of the water in the lower ground, mining can only be carried out at the upper level.
