James Pottorff, a veteran mine operator of the local district will start Monday night for Rochester Minnesota to consult the Mayo Brothers with reference to the condition of his health which has been poor for some time. Wesley Smith, one of his mining associates, will accompany him on the journey.

died Sunday morning at 2:25 o'clock at the family home at first Avenue and B Street, Northeast, Miami, was held this afternoon from the home at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. D. A. Dawson officiated. Interment was in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. The pallbearers were C. J. Fribley, Don Wills, W. A. Wagoner, Ross Bayless, George Stein and J. H. Douglas. Death came to Mr. Pottorff after a long illness. He was born in Vermillion county Indiana, in October, 1862. In 1871, his parents moved to Vernon county Missouri, where they lived for 10 years. From there they moved to Barton county Missouri, where Mr. Pottorff was married at Lamar to Miss Susie Green in 1884. The Pottorff's later moved to Jasper county Missouri, where Mr. Pottorff engaged in farming, in which he was very successful. He was later engaged in the mercantile business in Alba Missouri, but suffered business reverses. In 1920, Mr. Pottorff came to the Oklahoma mining district and became associated with the Commerce Mining and Royalty Company. He gained the reputation of being one of the best prospectors that ever operated in Oklahoma. Besides his mother, Mr. Pottorff leaves a wife, and daughter, Mrs. H. F. Myers of Miami and a sister, Mrs. Hancock of Coffeyville Kansas.
