Fred H. Phelps, a lifelong Miamian and a prominent figure in the district hard rock lead and zinc field, died at 8:10 am today at Miami Baptist hospital. He had been a patient there since suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at his home on Nov 30. Phelps, 59, was a veteran milling superintendent with the Eagle-Picher Company he was a member of First Methodist church, the Miami Bowling Association and the Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Phelps, of the home at 216 G northwest, Miami; three sons, Fred Bailey Phelps of Miami, Col. Harry Phelps, Chicago, and Jim Thomas Phelps, Marion Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Rolla Wilson, Milton Oregon, and Mrs Florence Turner, Vinita Oklahoma, and four grandchildren. The body was received by the Cooper funeral home
