the 140 foot level was reached Saturday afternoon in the new shaft being sunk on the Bailey Mine lease, immediately south of the Ballard Mine, for the St. Louis Smelting and Refining Company. The shaft will be sunk to the 290 foot level. Fred Parrish of Baxter Springs Kansas is the contractor.
