217 J. Street NW, Miami, died Thursday afternoon, May 9, 1996, at his home after a sudden illness. He was 72. Mr. Parnell was born Dec 26, 1923, at Joplin Missouri to Joe Parnell and Mary Elizabeth Wilkenson Parnell. He lived in the Miami, Picher and Cardin Oklahoma area all his life. He worked in the lead and zinc mines in the Picher area and later was a carpenter and a member of the Local Carpenters Union No. 943 in Tulsa Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Parnell, in 1970; and by two sons, Jerry Parnell and Johnny Parnell. He married Ruby I. Mathia Smith on Jan 29, 1975 in Miami. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Katy Smith, Quapaw Oklahoma; a step-son, Marty Smith, Tulsa Oklahoma; three step-daughters, Karen Susie' Shoultz and Deborah Kay Mann, both of Miami, and Charlotte I. Oney, Midland Texas; two brothers, Carl Parnell and Jack Parnell, both of Fresno California; three sisters, Rena Martin, Lenora Mengenello, and Lillian Audelo, all of Fresno California; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grand children. Funeral services are pending with the Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami.

...Services will be Monday, May 13, at 2 pm at the Paul Thomas funeral home of Miami. The Rev. Lloyd Stone will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chester Barnett, Bill Crawford, Steve Cline, Charles Mathia, Clinton Miller, Garland Mathia and Denver Miller. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 pm at the Paul Thomas funeral home of Miami. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami.
