Funeral services for John W. Pannell, 74 years old, former resident of Joplin Missouri and Galena Kansas, for many years, who died at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of a son, John Pannell of Neodesha Kansas, were held this afternoon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of which he was a member. The Rev. Samuel D. Flake was in charge. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery at Galena. Mr. Pannell, who was born Jan 13, 1861, in McDonald county Missouri, came to Galena with his parents when a small boy. He worked in the mines of the Joplin Missouri-Galena district for several years. He left Joplin a few years ago to make his home at Neodesha. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Laura Pannell; another son, George Pannell of Cardin Oklahoma; five daughters, Mrs. Mattie Flokas, Mrs. Juanita Ulry and Mrs. Belle Herndon, all of Joplin; Mrs. Maude Christian of Rogers Arkansas, and Mrs. Oleta Page of Cardin Oklahoma; twenty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
