Funeral rites for Overton, 54 years old, twenty-second Street and Chouteau avenue, Baxter Springs Kansas, who died Wednesday night after an illness of five years, will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Bethel Community church at Twenty-first Street and Military avenue by the Rev. Mrs. Lou Love of Galena Kansas. Burial will be in the Baxter Springs cemetery. Nephews will act as pallbearers. They are Howard Douthit and Lloyd Douthit, George Wilson, Frank Wilson, Albert Wilson and Leslie Wilson. Nieces will act as flower girls. They are Bertha Clark, Edith Woodard, Dortha Clark, Pauline Douthit, Ethel Louise Wilson and Mary Claudine Overton. Mr. Overton was a life time resident of this community. He was a farmer and stockman until recent years, when he became interested in drilling developments in the Tri-State mining field. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eurah Overton; one son, William Overton, Jr., at home; five sisters, Mrs. Estella Douthit, Mrs. Zack Wilson, Mrs. James Bingham and Mrs. Ed Wilson, of Baxter Springs, and Mrs. Anna Standefer of Miami, and one brother, Giles Overton of Parsons Kansas.
