about 48 years old, was fatally injured at midnight Saturday when he was struck by a car on South Connell avenue in Picher Oklahoma. The accident victim, who had lived in Douthat Oklahoma, died soon after the mishap in Picher hospital without regaining consciousness. Novak was walking south on Connell avenue, facing the traffic, when he apparently stepped in front a vehicle driven by Jake Fulcher, Commerce Oklahoma, near the Atwood restaurant. Sheriff Dee Watters, officers, Milt McCullogh and Horace Rider who investigated the accident, said that Fulcher was not at fault and that it was unavoidable. No charges were filed. Novak, who was an unemployed miner, is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Novak, Webb City Missouri, and Joe Novak, Camp Barkeley Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Ingle, Baxter Springs and Mrs. May Chamberlin of Arizona. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Durnil funeral home at Picher is in charge.

Funeral services for Mike Novak will be held at the Durnil chapel at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, the Rev. W. A. Evans officiating. Burial will be made in the Lowell Kansas cemetery with the Durnil funeral home, Picher, in charge. Pallbearers will be Earl Hand, Earl Cobb, W. C. Novak, Joe Hickman, J. G. Wimberly and Bert Jones.
