Charles E. Nichols, Sr., a 61 year old lifetime resident of the Tri-State area, died at 8:45 o'clock Tuesday night at his home, 458 South Emily Street, in Picher after an illness of about two years. A resident of Picher for 25 years, Nichols was a retired miner and a former employee of the Sedgwick Furniture Company. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a past grand master of the Picher lodge and a member of the Baptist church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Geogianna Nichols; four sons, Jack Nichols, Colorado Springs Colorado, Charles E. Nichols, Jr., Bacaville California, and Robert Nichols, Picher; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Butler, Spokane Washington; one brother, Fred Nichols, Long Beach California; one sister, Mrs. Charles Stinnett, Carthage Missouri; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist church in Picher. The Rev. Gloyd Lukehart will officiate. The body will lie in state at the family home from 4 o'clock this afternoon until the funeral hour. Masonic rites will be conducted at the grave in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Goodson-Durnil funeral home is in charge.
