Picher Oklahoma. Funeral services for Richard Henry Newton, 58 year old Baxter Springs Kansas resident, who died in a Picher hospital Wednesday from burns received last Saturday morning, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Baxter Springs Methodist church, it was learned today. The Rev. William A. Hubbard will be in charge. Burial will be in the Forest Park cemetery under the direction of the Hurlbut undertaking company of Joplin Missouri. The surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Birdie Newton; one sister, Mrs. W. W. Kersey of Joplin; one son, Fermon Newton of Cardin Oklahoma; one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Daniels of Baxter Springs; his mother, Mrs. A. L. Boyd of Joplin and a brother, John Newton of Miami. Newton was born in McDonald county Missouri, and moved to the mining field when a young man. He had resided near Baxter Springs for the last 10 years, and had been associated with mining activities in various capacities most of his life. He was a member of Fellowship lodge No. 345, A.F. and A.M. at Baxter, and was a member of the Fort Scott Scottish Rite consistory.
