Abstract Data

84, 206 West Pine Street, died at 2:30 am Friday Dec 11, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin Missouri, after 10 years of ill health. He had been a patient at a nursing home at Columbus Kansas for one year. Mr. Myers was born Jan 14, 1914, at Weir Kansas. He grew up at Weir and later moved to Parsons Kansas. He moved to Cherokee Kansas about five years later. He worked in the mines for 14 years. He later worked as a pipe fitter for 35 years, retiring at the age of 62. He was a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church, Cherokee Masonic Lodge and a 50 year member of the Topeka Union Local. He married Dora E. Chapman on Oct 31, 1943, at Parsons. She survives. Additional survivors include a son, David Joe Myers, Cherokee; two daughters, Linda White, Columbus, and Jolene McWilliams, Mountain Home Arkansas; a sister, Mary Ann Sullivan, Webb City Missouri; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday at Cherokee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Phyllis Southard will officiate. Burial will be in Hosey Hill cemetery, west of Weir. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Cherokee Masonic Lodge. Friends may call after 9 am Sunday at Bath-Naylor funeral home, Weir, with the family receiving friends Sunday night at the family home. Contributions may be made to Cherokee Masonic Lodge or Cherokee United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
