The old Pelican Mill at Monarch Kansas, was destroyed by fire at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. The origin of the fire was not determined...the mill was last operated as a tailing mill by Wesley Smith, Floyd Myers and Leonard Goins. The pump station derrick and transformer house were saved by the firemen. Loss was estimated at $5,000.
