of Commerce Oklahoma died Friday at 9:10 p.m. Jan 26, 2001, at NEO Health Care Center of Miami after an illness. He was 75. Mr. Mowery was born Apr 27, 1925, in Gamerco New Mexico, to Luther Roy and Dora Duncan Mowery. He had lived in Ottawa county Oklahoma most of his life. He had worked for B. F. Goodrich Company as a tube maker and Eagle-Picher Company Industries. He had owned and operated Mowery-Barton Garage for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, the Commerce Masonic Lodge, and the VFW. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea Bees. His parents and four brothers, Leroy Mowery, Jack Mowery, Leonard Mowery, and Mike Mowery, preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Jack Mowery and Leonard Mowery of Globe Arizona; one daughter, Gwen Thompson of Commerce; two sisters, Evelyn Forrester of Commerce and Wilma Jean Allgood of Commerce; two brothers, Bud Mowery of Yuma Arizona, and Kenneth Mowery of Ohio; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Rev. Jerry Von Moss will officiate. Pallbearers are Gary Thompson, Joe Crawford, Bruce Forrester, Brian Forrester, Charles Riggins, and Carroll Allgood. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Paul Thomas funeral home in Miami. A graveside service for Mr. Mowery is Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the G.A.R. cemetery of Miami.
