Miami, died Monday, Aug 23, 1999, at 9:30 pm near Grove Oklahoma, due to accidental drowning in Grand Lake. He was 70. He was born Oct 30, 1928 at Turkey Ford, to George Mountford and Anna McElhany Mountford. He had lived in the Miami area most of his life. He was a retired miner and farmer and worked for the state of Oklahoma with the Department of Highways and at Twin Bridges State Park. He married Inez Tanner, Feb 3, 1951 at Miami. She survives of the home. One son, Ron Mountford, and one brother, Joe Mountford, preceded him in death. Additional survivors include one son and his wife, Ray Mountford and Patti Mountford, Snyder Oklahoma; one daughter and her husband, Carol Cason and Grady Cason, Owasso Oklahoma; two brothers, Kenneth Mountford, Neosho Missouri, and Phillips Mountford, Bellvedere Illinois; two sisters, Nellie Nutting, Miami, and Lillian Radner, Smelterville Idaho; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral is Thursday Aug 26, at 2 pm at the Paul Thomas funeral home of Miami. The Rev. Clyde Stilley will officiate. Interment will be in Glen Abby Memorial Gardens, Miami. Pallbearers will be Rick Nutting, Steve Jameson, Scott Jameson, Jason Mountford, Jared Mountford and Josh Mountford. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Nutting and Shane Jameson. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the Paul Thomas funeral home in Miami. Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas funeral home of Miami.
