Morris, Ray

50 year old former ground foreman at the Lucky Bill Mine of the Federal Mining Company, died at 10:05 am today at his home, 318 South Frisco Street, Picher Oklahoma. He had been in ill health for more than a year. Mr. Morris, resident of Picher for more than 20 years, came here in 1917 from Webb City Missouri. He was born at Riggs Missouri. The mining man was a member of many lodges and affiliated organizations. He held memberships in the Masonic, Knights of Pythias and IOOF lodges among others. He was a member of the Guthrie consistory. Scottish rite, and held at various times high offices in the state IOOF and K. of P. lodges. Morris was a former member of the District 15, Picher, board of education. Surviving him are his wife, Elizabeth Morris; two daughters, Miss Martha Morris and Mrs. Evalyn Linn, both of Picher; a brother, Jay B. Morris of Muskogee Oklahoma, and a grandson. Funeral arrangements will be completed by the Durnil funeral home, Picher.

Funeral services for Ray Morris, 50 year old will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Union church, J. H. Mott, assistant pastor of the church, will officiate. He will be assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Wesley Post, and the Rev. W. A. Evans, pastor of the First Baptist church. Music will include vocal solos by Mrs. Austin Keithley and Mrs. A. W. Weigl, and selections by the high school mixed quartet. The Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias will conduct services at the home and the church and Ottawa lodge No. 478, A. F. & A. M., will be in charge of rites at the cemetery, which will be Ozark Memorial at Joplin Missouri. Active pallbearers will be the following members of the IOOF and Knights of Pythias lodges; James Powers, Ralph Jones, Bill Mizer, Charles Duncan, Marion Sullivan and Clyde Leathers. Honorary pallbearers are to be employees of the Federal Mining and Smelting Company; Carl Johnson, John Dobbins, Francis Williams, Joe Moreland, Ed Endicott, L. S. Lovall, Robert Kimerer, Jess Andrews, William Forshee, Jim Duree, Glen Swafford, Marion Counts, Melvin Nicely, Merrill Winters and Carl Carmean.
