Abstract Data

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Luster Morgan of Cardin Oklahoma were killed at 3:25 Sunday afternoon when a Northeast Oklahoma electric car struck their automobile while they were crossing the tracks at the crossing near the Prairie Mine in the north part of Commerce Oklahoma. Mr. Morgan was killed instantly. Mrs. Morgan lived about five minutes after being picked up by passengers and railroad men. Their Ford roadster was torn to pieces. Mr. Morgan was hoisterman at the K. B. and M. Mine in Cardin, formerly known as the Central Mine. He was 46 years old. His wife, was 43. They are survived by two daughters, Mrs. F. G. Adams of Tulsa Oklahoma and Mrs. Beverly Lafon of Coffeyville Kansas. Mr. Morgan's brother, Jess Morgan, lives at Picher, another brother Dado Morgan, is in New York. A string of freight cars obscured the vision of the driver of the small car to a certain extent, it is said, and also kept the motorman of the trolley car from knowing of the approach of the motor car. The Morgans had the curtains of their car tightly drawn, according to reports. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were returning home from a visit to the home of Sam McBee of Commerce, an uncle of Mr. Morgan, when the accident happened. They bodies will be taken to Bartlesville Oklahoma, the home of Mr. Morgan's mother, by the Mitchelson undertaking company for burial.
