Ben received a few scratches when he came into a sudden contact with a wire entanglement. The game was held up 30 minutes in an effort to save the best dressed man's clothing. This happened in a baseball game between the Eagle-Picher Company office and the Ohimo Mine team last Monday afternoon.

A report reaches this desk that the boys at the Eagle-Picher Mining and Smelting Company's office here have been having a bad time keeping Ben Moody's shoes on him. They say Ben wants to go barefoot so he can feel the carpets to better advantage.

Benjamin Moody, Jr., Miami, died at 6:45 am Wednesday, Sep 24, 1997, at University Village, Tulsa Oklahoma. He was 86. Mr. Moody was born Feb 13, 1911, at Galena Kansas to Benjamin Moody and Anna Smith Moody. He lived in Galena and Picher Oklahoma before moving to Miami in 1939. He was a 1929 graduate of Galena Kansas High School and attended Coffeyville Junior college. Mr. Moody worked for Eagle-Picher Mining Company as an accountant and head of the land lease department for 43 years. He later worked for 10 years as assistant mine inspector for the Oklahoma Department of Mines. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Miami. He attended Cardin Christian Church. He was a member of the Miami Lions club, the Picher Lions Club and the Miami Country Club. Mr. Moody married Bonnie Gadberry on Dec 13, 1935. She preceded him in death on Apr 6, 1977. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Moody, in 1960. Survivors include three sons, Nick Moody, Broken Arrow Oklahoma, John Moody, Tulsa, and Bob Moody, Dallas Texas; two daughters, Suzanne Teehee, Broken Arrow, and Marianna Speakman, Louisville Kentucky; a brother, Bill Moody, Galena, a sister Anna Marie Johnson, Forth Worth Texas; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The service will be 10 am Saturday, at Cardin Oklahoma Christian church with Pastor Bill Richey officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery of Miami. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be John Moody, Chris Maynard, Gerald Moody, Robert Moody, Zachary Moody and Seth Nimmo. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Patton, H. C. McMullin, Harold Hulsey, Ralph Leslie, Ben Kyser, Ernest Pokey' Moran and Bob Evans. Services are under the direction of Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami.
