age 95, of Commerce Oklahoma, died 3:57 am Thursday after an illness. Mr. Meier was born Nov 22, 1905 in the Timberhill area east of Welch Oklahoma in what was then Indian Territory. Born to Henry Meier and Lura Buckallew Meier. He attended the Maybell school, east of Welch. He lived in the Kansas-Oklahoma area most of his life. Mr. Meier worked in the lead and zinc mines for 28 years before working on the docks for Flemming for 17 years. And then as custodian for the U.S. Post Office for 20 years before retiring. He married Bertha Hecksher on Aug 4, 1923, at the courthouse in Miami. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include a brother, Walter Meier, Springfield Missouri; three grandchildren, Mike Meier, Baxter Springs Kansas, Sheila Garner, Picher Oklahoma, and Jan Meier, Miami; nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Meier; a daughter, Olive Riley; his parents; a sister, Cassie Harshman; and a brother, Doc Meier. The graveside service is 2 pm Friday. Thomas funeral home, Welch. Burial at Williams Timberhill cemetery, east of Welch.
