The Tuesday shooting death of a 21 year old Commerce man has been ruled a suicide by the Ottawa county medical examiner. James Earl McWethy, was killed in his home by a single blast from a 20 gauge shotgun, according to Dr. Charles Letcher. Letcher said McWethy had been dead from two to four hours when his body was discovered at noon. Born Apr 2, 1960, in Miami, McWethy was a 1978 Miami high school graduate. He was employed by Eagle-Picher at Quapaw Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Kathy McWethy, of the home; a daughter, Amber Michelle McWethy, Miami; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. George McWethy, Commerce; his mother, Mrs. Judy Cameron, Miami; two brothers, Joe McWethy, Miami, and Mark McWethy, Commerce; a sister, Dori Hemphill, Miami; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Fowler, Pittsburg Kansas, and Mrs. Hazel Mitchell, Commerce.
