Harry M. McDonald, well known mining engineer and geologist, died Monday morning at 4 o'clock following an attack of paralysis, in his apartment at the Hotel Miami. McDonald was stricken Sunday and an effort was made to remove him to the hospital, but crowded conditions there prevented his entrance. McDonald's age has been placed at 46, although there are no records to be found Monday morning. He is believed to have a cousin in Chicago and efforts are being made by friends of the dead man to communicate with the cousin and determine what disposition should be made of the body. The dead man's personal effects did not show him a member of any fraternal or social lodge. After death the body was removed to the Sill Undertaking establishment to await word from relatives. McDonald was a graduate of the College of Mining, Engineering and Geology in the University of California. In 1898, in company with Joaquin Miller and Alice Rixy, a Colorado newspaper woman, McDonald went to Alaska. He wrote a series of scientific articles on mining conditions in Alaska that were published in the San Francisco Examiner. McDonald came to Miami two years ago. He built several mills in the district and was regarded as a competent mining authority. He also made exhaustive surveys of the field. He suffered a stroke of paralysis more than a year ago and several months later he suffered another.

H. M. McDonald, who was stricken with paralysis at the Savoy Hotel some time ago, and who was recently removed to Vinita, is improving according to information received in this city. He was under the care of Dr. Cora Cain, the Chiropractic, before being removed from this city, and this treatment, his friends say, has been directly responsible for his improved condition. Mr. McDonald is walking and expects to return to Miami in two or three weeks to resume his business. [Sorry, missed putting down the date, and haven't found it again]
