Funeral services will be held at 1:30 this afternoon at the Christian Church. Rev. Robert Denton of Baxter Springs Kansas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Walter Young, W. W. Dobson, Watt Lyons, Nat Wright, Jess Roberts and Russell Edgerly. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami, under direction of the Cooper undertaking company.

51 years old, died at his home, 827 D Street southeast, Miami, this morning. Death followed a stroke of paralysis occurring 10 days ago. Mr. Mayes, born in Webb City Missouri, had been a resident of the lead and zinc mining vicinity all of his life being directly engaged in the industry. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie Mayes, one son, Earl G. Mayes of Miami; one sister, Mrs. Rhoda Davidson, Washington; and one brother, J. D. Mayes of Miami. Funeral arrangements are incomplete awaiting arrival of relatives. The Cooper undertaking company, Miami, is in charge. Miami, IOOF lodge No. 63 will be in charge of rites at the church and the cemetery. All members in the county have been requested to meet at the hall Sunday, Apr 15, at 1:30 o'clock.
