Funeral services for Embry L. Maxam, 78 years old, who died at his home, Fifth Street and East avenue, in Baxter Springs Kansas, Thursday night following a long illness, were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Hoskins-Wene funeral home. The Rev. H. Ellis Ogden, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated. Graveside rites were conducted by members of the IOOF lodge. Mr. Maxam worked for a number of years as a night watchman in the mining field. He was a member of the Methodist church and the IOOF lodge in Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Maxam; a son, F. W. Maxam of Wichita Kansas; a stepdaughter, Miss Joyce Woods of Baxter Springs; and a brother John Maxam of LeGrande Oregon.
