Abstract Data

23 years old, First and Vantage Streets, Picher Oklahoma, was instantly killed in the west yards of the Mineral Belt Railroad shortly before 2 o'clock this morning. When run over by a switch engine pulling a number of ore cars. The body of Martin was cut in two at the waist. It is believed Martin sat down upon the ties at the side of the railroad track to rest while returning home last night from the city and that he fell asleep. None of the train crew saw Martin before the accident. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Martin, with whom he made his home; two brothers, Carl Martin and Roy Martin, and two sisters, Mrs. Ina Authors and Miss Pearl Martin, all of Picher. He also is survived by his grandmother, Mrs. Martha Drake of Aurora Missouri. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body will be taken to Aurora Missouri, his former home, for burial.
