50 year old World War I veteran and resident of the Tri-State lead and zinc mining district for the last 20 years, died at the Veterans hospital in Muskogee Oklahoma at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday. He had been receiving treatment since April 7. His home was at 120 North Maple Street in Commerce Oklahoma. He was last employed as a mill man by the Evans-Wallower Mining company. A member of the Lutheran church in Pittsburg Kansas, and of the Picher Oklahoma American Legion post, Marquardt is survived by his mother, Mrs. August Marquardt of Pittsburg Kansas; seven brothers, Albert Marquardt, Paul Marquardt, Ernest Marquardt, Carl Marquardt and Alvin Marquardt, all of Pittsburg, and Rufus Marquardt of Wolfe Lake Illinois, and Otto Marquardt of Columbia Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. Carl Schnackenberg of Pittsburg. Services will be announced by the Goodson-Durnil funeral home, Picher.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Lutheran church in Miami at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The body will lie in state at the home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Henry Hubbard, Leland Hutchens, Amos Smith, Ralph Leslie, J. C. Jeffreys and Bill Holt. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami, under direction of the Goodson-Durnil funeral home, Picher. Besides his mother, seven brothers and a sister, Marquardt is also survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Marquardt of the home.
