34 year old city councilman died at 3:40 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at his home, 610 East A Street in Commerce Oklahoma. A district miner for 12 years, Mantle was elected to the city council from Ward 4 last spring. He was employed at the West Side Mine, an Eagle- Picher Mining and Smelting Company property, for 10 years. Mantle had been in ill health four weeks. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Floy Mantle, two sons, Maxie Mantle and Ronnie Mantle, both of the home; two brothers, Elven "Mutt" Mantle, Cardin Oklahoma, and Emmett Mantle, Pryor Oklahoma; and one sister, Mrs. Thelma Holt, Spavinaw Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Christian church in Commerce. The Rev. M. O. Childress will officiate. Pallbearers will be George Walker, Roscoe Horton, C. V. Crotts, Homer Sullivan, Amel Cass and Carl Hampton. Honorary pallbearers are Dick Stratton, Bill Mosley, Leroy Bennett, Nick Ferguson, Allan Woolard, Joe Vann, Buck Vann and Bill Vann. Burial will be G.A.R. cemetery, Miami. Mitchelson funeral home, Commerce, is in charge.
