Maison, Miami, died at 8:07 am Sunday, Sep 12, 1999, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center after an illness. He was 84. He was born Nov 21, 1914 at Turk Kansas, to Arthur J. Maison and Mary Etta Mathis Maison. He attended high school in Columbus Kansas, worked in the mines after graduation and enlisted in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He served on the John R. Pierce in the Pacific and after returning to the U. S., worked at Spencer Chemical. He moved to Cushing Oklahoma in 1962, working in research and development for Kerr-McGee. He also worked for Westinghouse Company, in Murraysville Pennsylvania, then moved to Oak Ridge Tennessee, where he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. He returned to Miami in 1976, working for the Department of Energy as the representative at the Eagle-Picher boron facility at Quapaw Oklahoma. He married Cleora Geneva Head, Nov 1, 1936 at Independence Missouri. She preceded him in death on Jan 17, 1996. He attended All Saints Episcopal Church of Miami and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Order, Prudence Lodge AP & A Columbus Kansas, where he was a Past Master of the lodge. He was past commander of the Keith Reeves Post of the American Legion at Columbus Kansas, the Columbus VFW, AARP, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Survivors include two sons, Arthur L. Maison and his wife, Donna Maison of Blue Springs Missouri, and Stephen L. Maison and his wife, Marsha Maison of Stillwater Oklahoma; one daughter, Mary Susan Whaley and her husband Ron Whaley of Miami; one sister, Jennetta Henson of Topeka Kansas; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is Tuesday, Sep 14, 1999, at 2 pm at the Paul Thomas funeral home of Miami, Rev. Noel Doherty and Rev. Jeff Maison will officiate. Interment will be at the Columbus Kansas City cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons; Rev. Jeff Maison, Mace Maison, Art Whaley, Bret Maison, Jordan Maison, Cameron Williams and Todd Williams. Gravesite rites will be by the NEO Veterans funeral detail. The family will receive Friends Monday, Sep 13, 1999, from 7 to 8 pm at the Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami.
