Maddock, Plus
Abstract Data
Picher Oklahoma, Jun 28 Charges against Plus Maddock, 56 year old Picher miner, who was arrested in connection with the dynamiting of the A. L. Carnett home in Century Oklahoma, will be dismissed, county attorney A. L. Commons announced here today following an informal investigation of the charges. "I am convinced that Maddok had nothing to do with the dynamiting," the prosecutor declared. Maddock established an alibi, according to the county attorney, and several persons confirmed the accused man's statements. The Carnett house was shaken, dishes were broken, a hole was torn in the ground nearby and members of the family were thrown to the floor by the explosion, which occurred the night of June 18. Maddock formerly was a border at the Carnett home, having left there about four months ago. He now lives at 401 Connell avenue, Picher.

Cardin Oklahoma June 18 a Cardin man, his wife and six children narrowly escaped death Sunday night when a dynamite explosion tore a ragged hole in the side of their house and shattered every window and china dish in the building. The explosion occurred about 10:30 o'clock at the home of A. L. Carnett, near the Old Hare Mine, on the southeast outskirts of Cardin. The county authorities and local police Monday were seeking a clue to the identity of the man who set the dynamite, and ran from the premises a minute before the explosion. The presence of mind of Carnett, a miner, probably saved his own life as well as those of his wife and children.
