78, 615 S. Connell Avenue, Picher Oklahoma, died at 8:15 am Thursday, Jan 15, 1998, at Freeman Hospital west, Joplin Missouri, after an illness. Mr. Madden was born Nov 8, 1919, at Zincville Oklahoma. He lived in Picher Oklahoma and the Zincville community all his life. He worked for Eagle-Picher Mining Company and Central Mill at Picher for 30 years. He was a member of the first Baptist Church of Cardin Oklahoma. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Dorothy Hodges on Nov 25, 1939. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Larry Madden, Baxter Springs Kansas. two daughters, Judith Heatherly, Fairland Oklahoma, and Brenda Onstott, Lamar Missouri, nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 am Saturday at Paul Thomas funeral home, Picher. The Rev. Clyde Stilley will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 pm today at the funeral home.
