59 years old, widely known in Ottawa county Oklahoma as a peace officer for many years, died at 6 am today at his home on Fourth avenue and C Street southwest, Miami. He had been in ill health for several years. Mr. Luckey was a resident of Miami for 27 years, having come to this city from Baxter Springs Kansas in 1907. He had served several terms as deputy sheriff, once as acting Ottawa county sheriff and concluded his career as a patrolman on the Miami police force in 1932. Since he resigned his position on the Miami police staff he was confined to his home most of the time. He had also been a miner in the Tri-State district for years. He is survived by four sons, Roy Luckey of Dallas Texas, and Jim Luckey, Wayman Luckey and Jack Luckey, all of Miami, and two daughters, Miss Mae Luckey of the home and Mrs. Mary L. Whitebird of Miami. Two sisters, Mrs. Ed Swalley of Baxter Springs, and Mrs. Rose Payne of Fort Scott Kansas, also survive. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from relatives. The body is being prepared for burial at the Cooper undertaking company. Burial in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami.
