Looney, Riley Franklin


Abstract Data

a resident of north Craig county Oklahoma and Picher Oklahoma for the last 25 years, died at the family home in Eagle district, west of Welch Oklahoma, Aug 24, at the age of 51 years, 10 months and 10 days, as a result of typhoid fever. He was born in Missouri near Pierce City Missouri, Sep 8, 1875, and came to Craig county Indiana Territory before statehood, settling on the farm in Eagle district, where he engaged in farming until the Picher lead and zinc field opened up, when he moved to Picher and was engaged in mill work for about ten years. About two years ago he was united in marriage to Mrs. Callie Peal, also of Picher, following which marriage they returned to the farm where they had made their home since. Those surviving him are the wife and one brother, E. M. Looney of Pierce City, who had been in the district during his brother's last illness and death. Riley was member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow orders of Welch and the thirty-second degree Masonic order, McAllister Oklahoma. Funeral services were held Sunday night, Aug 25, in the Methodist church, Welch, at midnight, in accordance with the rules of the latter names order, following which the body was taken to Pierce City Monday morning for interment in the old family burial ground. Funeral directions were in charge of Stroud Brothers.
