Abstract Data

Picher Oklahoma. While he and a boy companion were playing with his father's .32 caliber automatic pistol yesterday afternoon at his home in Douthat Oklahoma, Franklin Long, 15 year old son of Jack Long, district president of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, accidentally shot himself in the left hand. The bullet entered the outer side of the hand near the little finger and came out near the wrist, with the palm being badly mangled. The youth and his companion, Ruddy Bradley, were playing with the gun while his mother and members of the family were away from home, when the weapon was discharged. The little boy's injury was treated at American hospital at Picher, after which he was returned to his home.
