49 years old, died unexpectedly at his home, 1505 Wyandotte Avenue, Baxter Springs Kansas, at 11 Sunday morning. He was born in Round Rock Arkansas, and moved to Baxter Springs Kansas, 20 years ago from Galena Kansas. He was employed as a hoisterman in the mining field. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mae Lewis; four daughters, Mrs. Earl Mooney of Galena, Miss Crystle Lewis, Viola Lewis and Margie Lewis of the home; two sons, Elford Lewis and John Lewis of the home, and a brother, Otto Lewis of Galena. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Hoskins-Wene funeral home. The Rev. J. Ellis Ogden, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell Kansas cemetery.
