Abstract Data

an employee of a salt mine at Lyons Kansas and a former Picher Oklahoma boy, was killed suddenly at his work Saturday. It was reported to the Tribune that as Laswell worked in a bin, he was covered with salt, causing suffocation. The 24 year old man was found by fellow workers, his mother, Mrs. Delia Laswell, who was visiting in their home, and his wife, about 10 o'clock Saturday night. The attending physician reported that Laswell had been dead about 10 hours. A search was started for the man when workers noticed Laswell's car still remained at the plant following the 10 o'clock shift. A telephone call to his wife proved that Laswell had not returned home and apparently had not left the mine. Laswell was born in Oilton, Apr 16, 1928. He moved to the Picher area with his parents when very small and attended Picher schools. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist church in Picher. G. Hattabaugh of Picher and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Alice Laswell of Picher.
