Abstract Data

35 years old, of Picher Oklahoma, well known miner, was killed in a motor car accident late yesterday afternoon at Joplin Missouri. Information received here was that to avoid striking another machine, the car in which Lake was riding swerved to one side of the road. The machine turned over and threw Lake upon the concrete pavement. It was not learned whether or not a man riding with Lake was injured, nor which one was driving the car. Lake is survived by his mother, who resides in Joplin, several sisters and one brother, Albert Lake of Picher. A brother, Charles Lake, died 10 days ago at his home in Joplin. Mr. Lake served as a member of the Picher police department for a short time in 1925, resigning after a few days' service with the announcement that he preferred not to incur the enmity of any of his friends as he would be compelled to do in the proper exercise of his duty as an officer.
