Abstract Data

Assistant engineer and geologist for Eagle-Picher Company. A letter to the editor concerning the lead problem and high risks [chat, lead, pollution, etc.] - "In 40 years of experience within the workings of the mining field, I have seen the dust from the tailings and slim pons blow from south to north so hard that the air was almost as white as dirty snow and the highway around there would be covered...several engineers working in the field in Picher.. Good ideas about what to do about the water as the mines filled, but these ideas were cast aside as the mines filled.." Chat not a problem was the topic.."In the early days of the mines, the area was looked on as a God send for many of the men and families that lived in the Tri-State area. The mines helped build Miami, and the area all around Miami. We can't blame the mines and what they produced. All this talk about high risk and where to place the blame should not be on the miners...Note: A good article.
