Funeral services are pending for George J. Kinder, 72, pioneer Tri-State district lead and zinc miner and operator, who died at the Freeman hospital in Joplin Missouri late Monday. Kinder settled near Tahlequah Indian Territory before Oklahoma was given statehood status and farmed in that area before moving to Hockerville Indian Territory Oklahoma, in 1907. He was a mill foreman for the old Commerce Mining and Royalty Company in and around World War I years, and was an independent mine operator before he retired several years ago. He moved to Baxter Springs Kansas in 1945. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zuby Kinder of the home, 2061 South Lincoln Street; four daughters, Mrs. Lela Beardin of Hutchinson Kansas, Mrs. Faye Rutherford of Joplin Missouri, Mrs. Mary Freshner of Baxter Springs and Mrs. George Harrington of Hockerville Oklahoma; two sons, Blake Kinder of Kellogg Idaho, and John Kinder of Baxter Springs; a brother, John Kinder of Avant Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. Claude Scott also of Avant, 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Morton-Lundy funeral home of Picher Oklahoma.

Funeral arrangements for George J. Kinder, 72 year-old pioneer miner and operator who died Monday, have been completed under the direction of the Morton-Lundy funeral home of Picher. Rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist church of Hockerville. The Rev. L. L. Zimmerman of Ketchum Oklahoma, will officiate with the Rev. Roy Walker of Hockerville assisting. The body will lie in state at the mortuary until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Pallbearers will be George Short, Ed Moore, Verle Keller, Clarence Logan, Walter Kelly and Ellis Gonce.
