A retired hard rock lead and zinc miner who had lived at Picher Oklahoma for 35 years, Edward A. Kester, 82, died about noon Friday at Miami Baptist hospital, where he had been a patient for two days. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Lena Kester, of the home, 521 South River Street, Picher; a son, Harvey Kester, Long Beach California; two step-sons, Roy Douse, Bell Garden California, and Paul Douse, Miami; two step-daughters, Mrs. Maxine Dunning, Picher, and Mrs. Vera Sharp, Commerce Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Hill, Lakeworth Florida, and Mrs. Adalaide Kilborne, Riverside California; three grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Kester, a native of Milwaukee Wisconsin, belonged to the Assembly of God church at Picher, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Henry Horn will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, under direction of the Thomas funeral home, Picher. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Shafer, William Carey, Raymond Burke, Jack Stacy, Verl Goddard and Wallace Hildebrand. The body will lie in state at the mortuary until the funeral hour.
