72 years old, veteran hard rock lead and zinc miner, pioneer resident of Webb City Missouri and vicinity, and former police officer, suicided by shooting himself through the heart, with a .45 revolver, at 2:30 this afternoon in a work shop in the rear of his home at 702 North Tom Street. His wife heard the shot, screamed, and called neighbors. The body was removed by the Webb City undertaking company, and an inquiry may be held by the coroner. Mr. Kerr was a mine mill engineer, and had worked at Picher Oklahoma of late till a new compensation law and examination threw him out of work because of his old age. This may have contributed to his suicide. His health was fine, it is said. He was born at the old Kerry farm near the waterworks, it is believed. He married Miss Linnie Stinnett, who survives him. He was a brother of O. C. Kerr, the photographer, and an uncle of City Sexton Herbert Kerr. Another brother, Will Kerr died here recently. Deceased was better known as Porter Kerr.
