Abstract Data

22 year old Marine veteran, was killed Sunday morning in a highway accident at Mojave California. Kelly who left Cardin Oklahoma, Jun 10th on a trip to the West coast, was reported killed in the collision of a car and a motorcycle. Two other people were seriously injured in the wreck. He was a passenger in the car at the time of the accident. The former Marine had lived all his life in Cardin Oklahoma. He attended the Picher Oklahoma high school and had been working for a mining company before leaving for California. He spent 33 months overseas with the marines in World War II, with the Sixth Division. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. June Victory Kelly, one son, Billy Gene Kelly; one brother, Jerry Lee Kelly and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Kelly, all of Cardin. The body was shipped to Joplin Missouri by plane and arrived in Picher Tuesday. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Goodson-Durnil funeral home.
