Howard Keithley and N. A. Keithley, Jr., returned Friday morning from Tucson Arizona, with the report that their father, "Newt" Keithley, was feeling better when they left Tucson. Newt contracted pneumonia while en route to Tucson and was in an oxygen tent from last Sunday morning until Tuesday night, when he passed the crisis. Friends desiring to write to Newt or send him a card should address him at the Elks' sanatarium, Tucson Arizona.

Funeral services were incomplete today for Newton A. Keithley, Sr., 52 year old Tri-State district hard rock lead and zinc mining man, who died Saturday night in St. Mary's hospital at Tucson Arizona. Keithley, who had been in ill health several months following a severe attack of pneumonia last winter, was ground superintendent for the Eagle-Picher Mining and Smelting company for the last 10 years. Mr. Keithley lived a short distance south of Miami. Surviving him are his wife, Elsie Keithley; three sons, Tommy Keithley, Howard Keithley and N. A. Keithley, Jr., all of Miami; two brothers and two sisters. The body will arrive at Afton Oklahoma at 9:52 pm Tuesday. Howard Keithley, one of Mr. Keithley's sons, left Saturday for Tucson when he was advised his father's condition was critical.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete today for Mrs. Elsie Keithley, a former Miami and Picher Oklahoma resident who died Sunday afternoon at her home in Alvin Texas, after a three year illness. Mrs. Keithley, 62, moved from Miami to Texas in January, 1955. She was the widow of Newt Keithley, a ground boss for the Eagle-Picher Company, who died some 21 years ago. Surviving are two sons, Howard Keithley and N. A. Keithley, both of Alvin, and a step-son, Tom Keithley, Portland Oregon; her father, Dan Pritchard, Elsey Missouri; a sister Mrs. Gene Bankson, El Monte, California, and four grandchildren. N. A. Keithley is a former Miami high school and University of Tulsa football star. He was a big school athletic coach here in 1946-47. Mrs. Keithley's body will be received by the Cooper funeral home.
