of Picher Oklahoma, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Jan 14, 2000, at Integris Regional Baptist Health Center in Miami after an illness. He was 83. Mr. Jones was born Mar 27, 1916, at Granby Missouri, to Oscar Jones and Ida Goade Jones. He had lived in Picher since 1924. He was a truck driver for the lead and zinc mines in Picher. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He served in the European Theatre, receiving two bronze service stars and one bronze arrowhead. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Picher. Mr. Jones married Clara Pansy Allgood on Nov 12, 1938, in Picher. She preceded him in death on Mar 18, 1994. Survivors include one sister, Erma Stacy of Washington State; one great nephew, Tony Metheny of Miami; and two great nieces; Rhonda Rogers of Picher and Shelley Diveley of Miami. A graveside service is Monday, Jan 17, at 10 am. in the Greenlawn cemetery, northwest of Treece Kansas. The Rev. Mike Murray will officiate. The service is under the direction of the Paul Thomas funeral home in Picher.
