Abstract Data

A message telling of the death of W. J. Johnson, former Joplin Missouri and Picher Oklahoma resident, in a Bakersfield California hospital, has been received by a sister, Mrs. Bess Shoopman of Baxter Springs Kansas. Mr. Johnson, who was employed by the Freeman Foundry in Joplin for 18 years and who worked for the Chicago Mine while in Picher, was 67 years old. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Johnson; a daughter, Mrs. Inez Martin of Oklahoma City; two sons, Don Johnson and Billy Johnson of Vaceaville California; and five sisters, Mrs. Bess Shoopman and Mrs. Rose Davison of Baxter Springs; Mrs. Alice Myers of Picher; Mrs. Lucy Shoopman and Mrs. Nell Speechly of Eldorado Kansas; and three grandchildren. The body will arrive Saturday afternoon. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
