Johnson, Clyde
Abstract Data
who died last Sunday at his home in Baxter Springs, devoted his life to the mining industry. He was born in Granby Missouri, one of the district's earliest mining towns and when young began his work as a hard rock lead and zinc miner. He might easily be likened to one of those wheels in the interiors of a huge machine, which was seldom seen and made no noise, but which played ever so essential part in the operation of the machine. For this is the way it was with Clyde Johnson. A member of the great machine, the mining industry. He played his part silently, but well. As a resident of a mining town, he took no major part in civic affairs, but always give his support to every movement for the advancement of the community, which is truly one of the best ways to accomplish things. He was no boaster, no big taker, yet his influence was always for the best interests of his fellow workmen and fellow citizens.
