79 year old, longtime resident of Miami, and early-day mining company official, died in Miami Baptist hospital at 10:15 p.m. Sunday following an illness of several days. Jenkins, who had lived in Miami since 1910, was connected with the old Commerce Mining and Royalty Company and the Eagle-Picher Company for 36 years before he retired five years ago. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the First Methodist church. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Walter M. Jenkins, Jr., of Rapahoe Nebraska, Myron L. Jenkins of Miami, and George M. Jenkins of Kansas City Missouri, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in the Cooper mortuary chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Littleton Fowler and the Rev. Harry W. Curtis will officiate. Active pallbearers will be J. B. Clouse, Bob Stroup, Arthur Ferris, O. T. Counts, Burr Aton and Ernest Pokey' Moran. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Hall, G. C. Niday, H. W. Harrison, S. F. Clark, Dr. F. L. Wormington and Dick Stroup. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami.

Members of Miami Masonic lodge No. 140 AF & AM are requested to meet at the fraternal organization's hall here at 1 p.m., Wednesday to conduct Masonic rites for a deceased member, Walter M. Jenkins, Sr., in G.A.R. cemetery at 2 p.m. A member of the local Masonic lodge for many years, Jenkins died in Miami Baptist hospital Sunday night.
