Hunt, Harold C.
Abstract Data
45 year old Ottawa county Oklahoma lead and zinc miner, was seriously injured early Saturday morning, when the jeep in which he was riding crashed into a building. A report from Miami Baptist hospital said Hunt's condition was favorable. He was reported to be suffering from brain concussion and multiple head lacerations. Edward Gilley, 27, Picher miner and driver of the vehicle, was slightly hurt in the crash, but did not require medical attention, according to a report from the highway patrol. Hunt, whose home is on Chetopa Kansas Rt. 3, was hurt at about 1:15 am when the jeep left the road and crashed through the wooden front of a two story rock building at the intersection of Fourth Street and South Connell avenue at Picher Oklahoma. The Krazy Sam grocery store formerly was located there. The officer said that the crash was caused by Hunt's grabbing the car wheel after telling Gilley that he wanted to re-visit a place the pair had left. Knocked unconscious by the impact, Hunt was taken to the hospital in a Thomas funeral home ambulance.
