Miss Mary Garland and Ira D. Hulvey, both of Picher Oklahoma, were married last Thursday at Welch Oklahoma. They left Friday for Reco Colorado, where they will make their home. Mr. Hulvey is a mining contractor.

I. D. Hulvey, age 82, 200 C Street northeast, Miami, died Sunday night at the Baptist Regional Health Center following an illness. Born Nov 2, 1903, at Galena Kansas, Mr. Hulvey was a World War II Navy veteran who served with the 7th Seabee Battalion. He had lived most of his life in Miami and owned an insurance agency, until his retirement in 1969. Mr. Hulvey was a member of the Miami Masonic Lodge, the Eastern star No. 107, Gethsemane White Shrine No. 2, the Scottish Rites of Tulsa, Floyd L. Perry American Legion Post No. 147, and was a past commander and lifetime member of the Moore-McCoy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2688. He was also a member of the First Christian Church, Miami, where he served as a deacon for 25 years, was a past president of the Fellowship class, and was Sunday School superintendent for 17 years. Before moving to Miami he was a Sunday School superintendent of the Union church at Picher Oklahoma for many years. Hulvey worked as a shoveler in the Tri-State mining district during the late 1920's... He also worked as a mining contractor in the gold mines at Reco Colorado, from Feb 1928, until 1934. In 1928 he married Mary Garland of Picher Oklahoma and they made their home in Reco until 1934. In 1934, Hulvey returned to Picher and started selling insurance for American National Insurance Company. After the war he opened his own successful insurance agency. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Hulvey, of the home one brother, Jerry Hulvey, Columbus Kansas; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Holder, Quapaw Oklahoma, Mrs. Lois Edwards, Westville, Mrs. Bessie Warden, Salt Lake City Utah, and Joyce McNeely and Marie Cox, both of Picher. The article has a photograph of Mr. Hulvey.

Services will be 2 pm Wednesday at First Christian Church, Miami. Ministers Neil Norheim and Doug Jessup will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, under direction of the Cooper funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by a combined color guard from the VFW, the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and the Ex-Pows's. Pallbearers, all members of the military service organizations, will be Matt Chuck, Wayne Plake, Eddie Simpson, Al Truitt, Billy Holder and Jerry Hulvey. The family will be at the Hulvey home, 200 C Street northeast.
