Hulsey, Clyde William "Spike"

formerly of Commerce Oklahoma and North Miami Oklahoma, died Apr 7, 1999 in Sharps Memorial Hospital in San Diego California. He was 82. Mr. Hulsey was born Feb 13, 1917, in Webb City Missouri, to Newton C. Hulsey and Anna Mae Mathews Hulsey. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Cardin Oklahoma, in 1935, he married Bessie Chambers of North Miami. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Eagle-Picher Mining Company. Shortly after a divorce from Bessie Hulsey in 1947, he moved to California. He went to work for Imperial Irrigation District in Imperial, California, where he was the chief store keeper in the power department. While working for HD, he met and married Winfred Simpson. He was a past Noble Grand of the IOOF Lodge in El Centro California. He was also a member of the local numismatics club. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, James Hulsey, Harold Hulsey, Charles Hulsey, Herschel Hulsey and Myron Hulsey. He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Marvin Hulsey and wife Ella Mae Hulsey of Maryland and Bill Hulsey and wife of Big Cabin California; four grandchildren, Marvin Hulsey, Jr., Marilyn Hulsey and Kenneth Hulsey of Maryland and Robert Hulsey of Tulsa Oklahoma; great grandchildren Leigh Ann Hulsey, Marcia Hulsey, Andrew Hulsey and Samantha Williams all of Maryland; four sisters, Betty Ellison and Shirley Heller, both of Grove Oklahoma, Anna Mae Farley of Salem Oregon, and Helen Thompson of Brawley California; two sister-in-law, Alice Hulsey of Commerce Oklahoma and August Hulsey of Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Leroy Jackson in the Frye funeral home of Brawley California, on Apr 13, 1999.
