Private funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Anderson funeral home for Owen Hughes, 49 years old, of near Galena Kansas, who died at 2:35 o'clock yesterday morning in St. John's hospital, Joplin Missouri. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery. Mr. Hughes had been employed as a tool man by the Eagle-Picher Mining and Smelting Company for many years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Hughes; two daughters, Misses Genevieve Hughes and Mary Elizabeth Hughes, at home; his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Hughes, 1202 Wisconsin avenue, and three brothers, Lewis Hughes, Walter Hughes and Lawrence Hughes, all of Joplin.
