Abstract Data

Shell Horine a lead and zinc ore hauler during the early mining days, died in Miami Baptist hospital at 9 p.m. Sunday. He was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack at his home, 610 West A Street in Picher Oklahoma, Saturday noon. Horine, 73, a resident of Picher since 1923, was associated with an independent mining operation near Commerce Oklahoma at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Miami. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maude Horine of the home; a son, Robert Yull Horine, Vallejo California, and three sisters, Miss Emma Horine, Joplin Missouri, and Mrs. Nina Site and Mrs. Z. L. Moore, both of Kansas City Missouri. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thomas mortuary.

Funeral services for Joseph "Shell" Horine, longtime resident of Picher, will be conducted at the First Baptist church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. C. E. Bergen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Virgil Turner, Kenneth Horine, Ralph Anderson, Virgil Buckner, Clarence Houston and John Bayliss. Burial will be in the Maple Park cemetery at Aurora Missouri, under direction of the Thomas funeral home. The 73 year old former lead and zinc ore hauler died Sunday. In addition to survivors previously listed are three grandchildren.
