67 year old retired mining engineer and resident of Miami since 1921, died in Miami Baptist hospital at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday after a long illness. Mr. Hodgdon's long engineering experience in the Tri-State lead and zinc field included 16 years' service with the Eagle-Picher Company. He started to work for the firm as an engineer and draftsman on Jul 2, 1937, and retired on June 15, 1953, due to declining health. The engineer was a member of the board of directors of the First Methodist church, a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge and of the Oklahoma Engineering Society. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maude Humphrey Hodgdon of the home at 209 D Street southwest; a son, C. A. Hodgdon of Tulsa; three stepsons, L. J. Bowers, Glen Bowers and Ernest Humphrey, all of Miami; a brother, Ralph Hodgdon of Joplin Missouri; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Mills of Tulsa; two grandchildren, five step- grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Methodist church at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Oscar Fontaine, pastor, will officiate. Pallbearers will be R. K. Stroup, Ernest Moran, Roy Helmick, Benny Kyser, Earl Gordon and C. S. Shellhorn. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery at Tulsa under direction of the Cooper funeral home. The family requests no flowers. Cash contributions in Mr. Hodgdon's memory may be made to the Methodist church's building fund.
